Ironman Outdoors is a 501c3 men’s ministry that started in my SS class 12 years ago at a Baptist church in Columbia, SC. We take groups of men on hunting and fishing retreats and disciple them to be Godly fathers and husbands during our evening “manhood discussions.” For pre-Christian men, we present the gospel on every retreat.
Currently, we host 35 retreats per year in about 12 states. Knowing that the ministry has reached a critical size and needs full-time attention, about a year ago I began to pray that God would show me the way to enter full-time ministry. Just a month or so after I began to pray, I met Twig and David with Emmaus Road Partners.
Through a series of lunches and a lot of prayerful discussions, they have mentored and shown me creative ways to reach full-time ministry support. They helped me overcome my fears and anxiety about asking for money, which is almost un-American for a man to do. On October 1, 2019, I began setting up appointments with potential donors and speaking at churches.
On January 6th, 2020 I stepped away from my 22-year career and begin full-time ministry. “I’m in my second week of full-time ministry and can’t believe how busy it is.
“God is so good and I’m truly thankful for all that Twig and David have done to encourage me.”
