Midlands FCA is a local field office of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, an international non-profit Christian sports ministry founded in 1954 and based in Kansas City, MO. Midlands FCA comprises 15 counties in the central portion of SC where they serve 11 colleges, 86 high schools, and 86 middle schools. Those 15 counties are divided into six geographic areas plus a college ministry focused on the five campuses located in Columbia. Midlands FCA is passionate about ministering to coaches and the athletes whom they influence, by seeing them come to know Christ and to grow in their faith. This is the vision of our ministry and FCA’s ultimate goal.
Midlands FCA continued its mission “to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church” in spite of the Covid pandemic. 155 Huddles (small group Bible studies) were established during the 2020-21 school year and the gospel was shared with teams, with groups of coaches, with multi-sport groups in schools, and more! A variety of FCA Camps and retreats also returned this year after being cancelled in 2020.
FCA is a faith-financed ministry and depends on the generosity of donors to cover all budget needs (salary + taxes + benefits, program and operating costs, resources, and camp scholarships). As field ministry staff trust God for His provision, they are able to invite individuals, churches, and other organizations to be active in FCA ministry through prayer, volunteering, and financial commitments.
The Lord continues to multiply the potential for ministry impact at Midlands FCA. Seven new staff members have joined the team in the past 18 months bringing the total number of staff to 16 (some of whom are pictured here). The new Richland County Area Director, Ervin Mack, was commissioned by his home church, Shandon Baptist, in April, and the now full-time College Ministry Director, T Rousey was recognized in June at his home church, Elevation. Click HERE to watch T share about all God is doing in and through the College Ministry. There are a few others who are in the process of raising their support to join the staff, including Samantha Nichols, who recently competed in the Miss South Carolina Pageant.
